On Tuesday, March 14th, the students of Fairhaven were lucky to have this amazing group of young musicians play for them. Their performance was simply amazing and I believe was an inspiration to all of our students that participate in the FMS music program.

Did you know that over half of the FMS student body participates in Band, Orchestra, and Choir? Music is a BIG deal here at Fairhaven. Mrs. Schlicting and Mrs. Schwab manage large numbers of students and do an awesome job of making them into wonderful performance groups. Our PTSA supported our Orchestra this year by purchasing SIX cellos for student use. We would like to publicly thank the PTSA for their generous support.

Top Honors in Music Competition

On March 29th, both the 7th and 8th grade Orchestras performed in competition against several other middle school orchestras from Bellingham and around the county at the Large Group Jr. Orchestra Festival put on by the San Juan Music Educators Association. Both FMS orchestras took home the top scores from all three judges and were ranked 1st (7th grade) and 2nd (8th grade). If you have or know a Fairhaven Orchestra student that took part, congratulate them on an amazing performance!
